Linux Installation Guide

Follow these steps to install ListForge on your Linux system

GUI Installation Method

Download the App Image

Navigate to https://listforge.club/ to download the App Image for Linux.

Install Gear Lever

Install Gear Lever using either the Discover store on KDE, or Software on Gnome.

Open App Image with Gear Lever

Right click the downloaded app image in your file manager and open the App Image with Gear Lever.

Add to App Menu

Unlock Gear Lever and then click move to the app menu.

Launch ListForge

Then launch List Forge as you would any other installed application.

Application ready to launch!

Terminal Installation Method

Option 1: Automated Installation (Recommended)

Download and run our automated installation script:


                                    curl -L -o install_list_forge.sh https://listforge.club/install_list_forge.sh

                                    chmod +x install_list_forge.sh

                                    ./install_list_forge.sh

This script will automatically download the AppImage, extract the icon, create desktop entries, and refresh your application menu.

Option 2: Manual Installation

Download AppImage

Download the AppImage from listforge.club/download/linux

Move to Applications folder


                                            mkdir -p ~/Applications

                                            mv ~/Downloads/list_forge-x86_64.AppImage ~/Applications/

                                            chmod +x ~/Applications/list_forge-x86_64.AppImage

Extract and save official icon (Optional)


                                            cd ~/Applications

                                            ./list_forge-x86_64.AppImage --appimage-extract

                                            cp squashfs-root/usr/share/icons/hicolor/256x256/apps/list_forge.png ~/Applications/list_forge-icon.png

                                            rm -rf squashfs-root

Create desktop entry


                                            cat <<EOF > ~/.local/share/applications/list_forge.desktop

                                            [Desktop Entry]

                                            Name=List Forge

                                            Exec=/home/$USER/Applications/list_forge-x86_64.AppImage

                                            Icon=/home/$USER/Applications/list_forge-icon.png

                                            Type=Application

                                            Categories=Utility;

                                            Terminal=false

                                            EOF

Make desktop entry executable


                                            chmod +x ~/.local/share/applications/list_forge.desktop

Update application database


                                            update-desktop-database ~/.local/share/applications/

Refresh GNOME menu (Optional)


                                            # On Xorg: Press ALT+F2, type r, press Enter

                                            # On Wayland: Log out and log back in

Launch ListForge

Press Super key and search for "List Forge" in your application menu.
